SIMULATED TEMPERED SAFETY GLASS DEBRIS >SIMULATED TEMPERED SAFETY GLASS DEBRIS >
Shatter is a miniature debris material designed to replicate the look of broken safety glass in scale.
It adds color, reflection, and chaos to crash sites, impact zones, or shattered windows. Use it as scattered debris or build mind-blowingly realistic broken windows on cars, buildings, kiosks, and more. Shatter captures the fractured look of tempered glass without the weight, sharp edges, or cleanup.
- Plastic-based glass effect (lightweight and safer than real glass)
- For ground scatter, remnants, and full pane effects
- Includes two sizes of Shatter (standard and micro), tweezers, and four acetate sheets for pane effects, packed in a clear pocket protector
- Works with most glues (not included)

scale-adaptable
Includes two shard sizes: standard and micro. Adapts easily across most common scales from 1:64 to 1:12 and beyond.

photographs like real glass
Every shard is cut to reflect light naturally, mimicking tempered glass with stunning realism. Whether staged in bright scenes or low-key shadows, it adds cinematic sparkle and depth to any scene.
that unmistakable hue
Modeled after the greenish hue of real laminated safety glass, Shatter nails the subtle color cast that makes it instantly believable.
No filters (or paint) needed.

scene-ready for any setting
Shatter works across genres, timelines, and environments. Use it in modern-day crash sites, sci-fi wreckage, abandoned storefronts, or fantasy ruins. The ambiguous fragment shape and subtle tint feel at home in any scene without locking you into a specific era or setting. Wherever something broke, Shatter fits.

tech specs
Net Weight: 23g (combined)
Coverage: Coverage depends on how much damage you’re imagining. Shatter tends to go far and can produce dozens of broken windows at 1:35 scale…or one impressive pile of glass in 1:12. How you break it is up to you.
what is it?
Shatter is a miniature debris material made from crushed plastic, tinted to resemble the distinctive greenish hue of safety glass. It captures the fractured look of tempered shards at scale and is ideal for ground scatter, window remnants, or full pane effects.
Each set includes two shard sizes (standard and micro) along with tweezers and four transparent sheets for use with resin to create realistic pane effects. Glue is not included.
glue information
Not all glue is created equal, but most of them work just fine here. Choose based on how you’re using Shatter:
ground scatter
Diluted PVA, scenic cement, or matte medium
pane effects (remnants, full frames, windshields)
UV resin, clear epoxy, or other hard-setting adhesive
instructions
Bring the chaos to scale with ease. Shatter is simple to work with and adapts to almost any scene, whether you’re scattering debris, building broken panes, or adding just the right hint of destruction. Follow these steps to get the most out of every fragment.
ground scatter
- Apply scenic glue or diluted PVA to your surface using a brush, pipette, or spray bottle.
- Sprinkle Shatter onto the wet adhesive.
- Lightly press shards into place for better contact.
- Let dry completely before handling or sealing.
Avoid heavy pooling of adhesive, as over-saturation may cause minor color bleed. If you’re concerned about bleeding, lightly coat Shatter fragments with a clear sealer before applying.
Ideal for crash sites, street debris, broken displays, or environmental detail.
pane effects (remnants, full frames, windshields)
- Use a resin-safe surface or tape an included transparent sheet to a solid, flat surface to create a work area.
- For a straight edge, create a border using folded painter’s tape (lengthwise) as a dam.
- Apply UV glue or resin inside the frame or against tape border, roughly in the shape of the remnant or pane. If necessary, smooth the glue out evenly with a toothpick or tool.
- Sprinkle Shatter into the glue. Start with standard size, then add micro to fill gaps or create impact zones.
- Place a second transparent sheet over the top to create a smooth surface.
- Expose the glue to UV light or allow it to fully cure. You may need to apply pressure to remove air bubbles.
- Remove the transparent sheet. Trim off flashing and customize appearance with snips or a knife.
Other glues and methods may work for pane effects. Experimentation is encouraged.
lab tips
Got bubbles? Surface air bubbles can be fixed by adding glue and shatter to the void then curing.
For realism and detail:
-
Apply a thin line of glue along the edges of your remnant and sprinkle in Micro Shatter, then cure for added realism.
-
Use needle-nose pliers or snips to break away pieces and shape the final effect.
-
For laminated windshield effects, try using clear packing tape as the top layer. Partially cure the glue, then pierce with a sharp tool to simulate an impact crack. Slightly peel the tape back around the damaged area to exaggerate separation and texture, then finish curing.
